Dutch reading comprehension shouldn’t be intimidating. It’s a skill you can absolutely master with the right guidance.
We started LeesNederlands B.V. in 2012 because we saw the same problem over and over: people who were trying to improve their Dutch reading skills felt stuck. They’d study grammar rules, memorize vocabulary, but when it came to actually reading Dutch books, news articles, or complex texts — they’d hit a wall. The frustration was real, and frankly, it didn’t have to be.
What we’ve learned isn’t complicated. Reading improvement doesn’t come from memorizing lists or grinding through textbooks. It comes from understanding how Dutch language patterns actually work, then practicing with real content that matters to you. That’s what we’ve built here. We’ve trained teachers, refined our methods with thousands of students across the Netherlands, and created something that genuinely works.

Foundation Assessment
We start by understanding where you’re at right now. Not to judge, but to know exactly what to focus on. This takes maybe 20 minutes and gives us the roadmap we need.
Vocabulary in Context
We don’t teach words in isolation. You’ll see them in actual Dutch sentences, paragraphs, and texts. Your brain connects the word to real usage, which means you remember it.
Reading Strategy Training
Speed reading isn’t the goal. Understanding is. We teach you techniques that native Dutch readers use without thinking — skimming, identifying main ideas, handling unknown words.
Progressive Difficulty
Texts get gradually harder. You’re not jumping from children’s stories to news articles overnight. Each step up is manageable, which keeps you confident and engaged.
